DescriptionPortrait of Jesse Kakaque of the Sac and Fox Nation taken at the Watch Tower at Black Hawk State Park in Rock Island, Illinois. Jesse is wearing a roach headdress, a bandolier bag or sash over his left shoulder, another sash or belt around his waist, legbands, and moccasins with his outfit, which appears to be composed of a tunic-length shirt and pants decorated with embroidery or beadwork. He is carrying what appears to be a blanket over his right arm and what appears to be a tomahawk in his left hand. The Rock River is visible in the background.

Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using a Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a lantern slide scanned at 24-bit RGB color 1200ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the shadows 0 to 15 and the midtones from 1.00 to 0.91 using Adobe Photoshop 7.0.
