Date Original1916
DescriptionGroup portrait of eight people of the Sac and Fox Nation--three children, four women, and one man--taken outside the home of Jesse Kakaque in Mayetta, Kansas. The group is posed on the front porch of the home. Jesse Kakaque is present on the right side of the image, wearing a bandolier bag and moccasins decorated with what appears to be beadwork and/or embroidery. He is also wearing a shirt, suit apron, and legbands that also appear to be decorated with beadwork and/or embroidery. The seated women are wearing shawls and have blankets covering their laps, while the woman standing on the far left side of the image, Minnie Kakaque (Jesse Kakaque's wife), is wearing moccasins, many beaded necklaces, a ribbon shirt, and a blanket and skirt decorated with elaborate trimming. The two children seated on the porch are wearing long dresses with laced boots.
