TitleJ.H. Hauberg is given surprise
Date OriginalNovember 23, 1921
DescriptionClipping from a newspaper, the Rock Island Argus, dated November 23, 1921. The clipping reads, "Hikers who made trip to St. Paul present leader with album of pictures. Thirty-two hikers who took the interesting trip to St. Paul this summer, surprised J. H. Hauberg, who led them on their hike, at his home on Twenty-third street hill, last evening. The occasion was Mr. Hauberg's birthday anniversary. As a token of their appreciation of Mr. Hauberg's kindnesses, the guests presented their leader with an album containing enlarged pictures of 'snaps' taken on the Tama Indian reservation during their trip this summer. The album was suitably inscribed with a foreword, written by Dr. Truman Michaelson of the Smithsonian institution, who is a personal friend of Mr. Hauberg, and who was a guest of the hikers while he was making a study of the Sac Indians this summer. On the cover of the album are inserted beads, which were woven onto threads by the widow of Chief Pushetonica at the Tama reservation. The evening was spent in playing the pipe organ, and in community singing. Mrs. Hauberg served refreshments later in the evening."
