| Title | On the Pow-Wow Grounds. |
| Date Original | August 1922 |
| Description | Photograph of men and women outside and beneath at tent during the annual Pow Wow of the Meskwaki (Fox) tribe. Two Meskwaki women are visible in the center of the image, standing with their backs facing the camera; they appear to be wearing long dresses and have blankets wrapped around their heads and/or shoulders. The woman on the left is carrying an infant on her shoulders. The other people visible in the image seem to be visitors attending the Pow Wow and are not Meskwaki; some are likely affiliated with the Black Hawk Prairie Club. A group of three men is visible to the left of the women, and two more men are walking in the background. The men are wearing collared shirts, pants, and hats. Two women wearing long dresses and carrying purses are standing just beneath the tent. This photograph was taken at the Meskwaki Settlement in Tama, Iowa. |
