| Description | Image shows a large gathering of people on East Main Street in Galesburg, Illinois, welcoming home what are believed to be the veterans of the Spanish-American War. Some soldiers are visible on the right hand portion of the photograph from the waist up. A horse drawn carriage and a buggy are quite visible as well as two men on horses. There is a large advertisement on the side of a building for the S. R. Swanson & Brothers Meat Market and a livery stable with a large archway is on the right. There are individuals on the sides of the street, also leaning out of second floor windows and sitting on the roofs of the buildings. |
