| Description | Photograph shows the Illinois Hotel facing Main Street. It was three stories high with a basement level and a cupola on the roof. There is a portico entrance in the middle of the building and an enclosed entrance to the right. To the left in the basement is the Illinois Barber Shop and what appears to be the painted word, Confectionary. Around the corner to the left on Kellogg Street is a sign that says Illinois Beer Buffet with small electric lights around it. It was for the Illinois Hotel Saloon or Sample Room. Further down Kellogg Street is the E.W. Dodge new and secondhand goods store and on the next block is the Brown Corn Planter Works. On the far right is the N.P. Nelson Dry Goods store. There are bicycles and chairs in front of the hotel with several men standing and sitting near the entrances. |
