DescriptionPhotograph shows 41 men standing in front of the car barn of the Street Railway Company. Most of the men are wearing uniforms and caps, the others are wearing suits and bowler hats or work clothing. The barn is a brick building with two wire covered windows showing and a streetcar is sitting just inside the car entryway on tracks. The entryway is an arch with a lamp above. E. Galesburg is printed on the sign near the top of the streetcar. The area in front of the car barn is paved with bricks.

NotesIn the 1910 Galesburg City Directory, after the listing for the Street Railway Company, the People's Traction Company is listed in parenthesis. Note on back of photograph reads: "In the days of 2 man cars. Picture prior to 1920, as a guess I would say about the time the street cars were new, around 1912." There are some minor tears in the photograph. Negative also available. As a 1912 Galesburg City Directory was not available, the address was verified in the 1910 edition.

Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using an Epson Expression 1680 scanner with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a print photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600 ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the contrast from 0 to -2 and the brightness from 0 to +6 using Adobe Photoshop CS.
