| Notes | This image was printed on a hand tinted postcard. It is dated 1917, however all of the businesses pictured were not at this location at that time, but were there in 1905 as verified in the Galesburg City Cirectory for that year. It is assumed that the photgraph was taken approximately twelve years earlier. Printed on the back of the postcard : Pub. by Peck's China Store, Galesburg, Ill. (Printed in Germany). The postcard is addressed to Ethel Everts in Mercerburg. A note written on the postcard reads, "Feb. 19, 1917, Miss Ethel, tell Arch if he is there I will come over Thursday if the weather will permit. Tell Arch to let me know if he wants the wagon or buggy so Norman can meet me down in the...I am sending in to Norman so I will...all is well...JBE" |

TIFF file created from a postcard scanned at 24-bit RGB color 1200ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjsuting the contrast from 0 to +24 and the brightness from 0 to +18 using Adobe PhotoShop CS. |
