He has light colored hair and is wearing a suit jacket with a dark vest, a white dress shirt and a dark tie. |

| Notes | Written on the back of the photograph, "Residence of Sylvanus Ferris, one of the founders of Knox College and the City of Galesburg. Corner of Cherry and Tompkins. Presented by James W. Losey. Court house built 1884-85. Presbyterian Church stood where Judge George Thompson's house now stands in picture just behind the Ferris house. The church burned in 1891 and Thompson built his house on that site in 1892. |

| Digital Reproduction Information | Digital image captured using an Epson Expression 1680 scanner with transparent media a adapter. TIFF file created from a print photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the contrast from 0 to +12 and the brightness from 0 to +3 using Adobe Photoshop CS. |
