DescriptionPhotograph shows an interior shot of S. M. Swanson & Son Grocery in Galesburg, Illinois. There are four men standing in the store and various grocery items are displayed on counters and shelves. On the lower left there is what appears to be a pickle barrel and just above it different types of coffee. Canned goods are stacked quite high. There is an ornate cash register on the right. The man on the farthest left is Mr. S. M. Swanson.

NotesWritten on the back of the photograph, "Mr. Swanson 1st man. Mr. Ray Swanson (son). S. M. Swanson's. 5 points, Brooks, Knox and Prairie Sts." Although Ray Swanson is identified on the back of the photograph, it does not state which man he is in the photograph. Address of 84 to 88 South Seminary Street was verified in the 1922 Galesburg City Directory.

Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using an Epson Expression 1680 scanner with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a print photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 1200ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the contrast from 0 to +5 and the brightness from 0 to +10 using Adobe Photoshop CS.
