| Description | Photograph shows the second floor reading room of the Galesburg Public Library built in 1902. There are several wooden tables and chairs in the room with individuals seated at them. There are what appear to be brass lamps with glass shades on the tables. The ceiling is very ornate and there are four large pillars from floor to ceiling. A wooden magazine rack can be seen and there are curved glass and wood enclosed areas surrounding the back area. On the back wall above a clock is the phrase "In the highest civilization the book is still the highest delight". |
