| Description | Image shows employees of the O. T. Johnson Department Store heading for the annual picnic on street railway cars. The opened side cars are heading east on East Main Street in Galesburg, Ill. There are five of the railway cars visible with men and women seated and standing inside of them. There is a small group of men and an automobile on the left. The Illinois Hotel is visible on the upper left. There are signs for Jarl Young & Co., Wilbur Lanphear Co., Colville Bros.& Perr, and the Galesburg City Directory Co. The number 58 can be seen on the front of the first railway car. The street is paved with bricks. |

| Notes | The street railway cars may have been heading for Highland Park which was just east of Galesburg on the railway line and was very popular at that time. Written on the front of the postacrd is "The Big Store Picnic June 25, 1912. Written on the back are the words "O. T. Johnson Store picnic 1912. Names of businesses were verified in the 1913 Galesburg City Directory since a 1912 edition was not available. |

| Digital Reproduction Information | Digital image captured using an Epson Expression 1680 scanner with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a print photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 1200ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the contrast from 0 to +14, and the brightness from 0 to +17 using Adobe PhotoShop CS. |
