NotesThere is a note that is included with the photograph; it reads "Mrs. Billy Sunday shown at the S. Seminary Street Mission dedication. Started by the inspiration of evangelist Billy Sunday in 1907 as a bible class which met in the homes of its members, it grew into a Sunday school." Written on the back of the photo "Oct. 12, 1941. Mrs. Billy Sunday at the S. Seminary St. Mission dedication, M. Sanford." Although the previous owner of the photograph remembers the Mission as being on South Seminary Street in Galesburg, it was originally housed in a building that was located near taverns on the Public Square perimeter. This address was verified in several newspaper articles in the library's ephemera file. The mission moved to South Seminary Street sometime in the 1960's.
