DescriptionPhotograph shows the stern of the steamship S.S. Galesburg which appears to be ready to be launched in New York on June 24, 1918. Some of the superstructure of the ship is visible with what appear to be smoke stacks visible as well. There is a large crowd gathered below on the wooden dock and a small building on the far right. There appears to be a second ship on the far left. Part of the New York harbor can be seen on the far right.

Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using an Epson Expression 1680 scanner with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a print photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the shadows 18%, and the tonal width 54% using Adobe PhotoShop CS.
