| Notes | Written on the back of the photograph is: "L-R, Winfield Bartlett, Harry Miller, Alice Beadle, Major Bradley, Major Bartlett, Walter Shafer, Bob Sincliar, Mr. Thompson. The ship was named after the chairman of the National Shipping Board by the name of Hurley who grew up in Galesburg and insisted that a ship be named after his hometown. |

TIFF file created from a print photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the contrast from 0 to +12, and the brightness from 0 to +12 using Adobe PhotoShop CS. |
