DescriptionPhotograph shows the aftmath of a fire at the Gross Galesburg Company. The building on the right seems to be the only building burned. There is a ladder going up to the second floor and a fire hose is in the window directly below the ladder. There is a man walking by looking up. It looks like all of the windows on the building are broken out. There is rubble on the sidewalk below. There are two firemen barely visible behind the building on the far right and two automobiles are parked on the street in the foreground.

NotesAddress verified in the 1936 Galesburg City Directory. #2 is written in black next to the automobile on the left. The building on the far left was part of the O. T. Johnson Department store circa. 1890 and was called the O. T. Johnson Annex.

Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using an Epson Expression 1680 with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a print photogrpah scanned at 8 bit grayscale 600ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the contrast from 0 to +7 and the brightness from 0 to +13 using Adobe Photoshop CS.
