DescriptionPhotograph shows Ed Wall's Lumber Mill with the company truck in front of the mill. The mill itself is open on three sides and there is smoke coming out of the chimney on the roof. The truck is a flat bed truck with lettering on it which states : "Ed Wall Galesburg, Ill. R150, Dealer in Hardwood Lumber, Phone 5041 Blue." In front of the door is printed "E.W. 5500."There are five men in winter clothing leaning on a log on the left. Other logs can be seen scattered about and almost everything is covered in snow. In the distance can be seen a small house behind the truck and there is a barn on the far right, also in the distance.

NotesThe address listed in the 1942 phone book under Ed Wall is listed as 9 mi n rfd Rio. There is no listing in the yellow pages under lumber or lumber mills. So the scene may be on Illinois Route 150 9 miles north of Rio, Knox County, Illinois. Negative available.

Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using an Epson Expression 1680 with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a print photogrpah scanned at 8 bit grayscale 1200. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the contrast from 0 to +10 and the brightness from 0 to +8 using Adobe Photoshop CS.
