Retail Clerks Union
Retail Clerks Union
TitleRetail Clerks Union
Date Originalca. 1920
DescriptionPhotograph shows 31 men and women who appear to either have been in a parade down Main Street or are about to be in one. The Central Congregational Church can be seen behind them. The men are all wearing suits and ties and are standing on the ground except for one man who is sitting at the wheel of a truck. All of the women are standing on the bed of the truck and are also holding flags. There is a sign on the side of the truck with the words : "When buying ask for a union clerk, union store, Retail Clerks Union." Another sign is on top of the truck roof with the words : "Retail Clerks Union, Local 152, Galesburg." Street railway tracks can be seen directly in front of the men and the street is paved with bricks. Wires can be seen above the crowd which appear to be power lines for the street railway.
