| Description | Photograph shows nineteen women in Red Cross uniforms and veils with small crosses on the front of the veils and the collars on the uniforms they are wearing. Some of the women are holding trays that have straps hanging around their necks. The trays have a cross printed on the front and the words Red Cross Canteen Service. Other women are holding large flags that have a large cross on them. The women are standing in front of wooden doors at the entrance of the Company C Armory in Galesburg, Illinois. The Armory is a brick and stone building. The sidewalk is paved with bricks. |

| Digital Reproduction Information | Digital image captured using a Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a photographic print scanned at 8-bit grayscale 1200ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the shadows from 0 to 18, the contrast by +2 and the brightness by -2 using Adobe Photoshop 7.0. |
