	Free spirit in Downtown Galesburg Title Free spirit in Downtown Galesburg Date Original ca. 1951 Description Image shows a man, perhaps a beatnik or a hobo walking down East Main Street in Galesburg, Illinois. He is carrying a rooster and a book that appears to be about plants. On his shoulder is a stick with plants attached to it. There is a Hills Brothers coffee can and a frying pan attached to his waist as well as a rope. There are some women and a child standing in front of Miller-Jones Shoe Store looking at him. There is a stairway leading to a basement on his right with a barber pole next to it. The street is paved with bricks and there is a decorative street light to his right. The building behind him has the name of Nelson and Gustafson Law Office printed on the second store windows.
