| Description | Photograph shows the rear of Beecher Chapel and the Galesburg Public Library in Galesburg, Illinois. The image was taken facing the west. There is a garden area in between the two buildings with many trees, flowers and an arbor with seating on either side of it. There is also what seems to be either a bird bath or fountain between the two buildings. On the upper portion of the library are the names Lowell, Emerson, Dickens, Thackery, Ruskin and Bancroft, and there is a trailing vine on the back portion of the chapel. There is a top portion of a house visible across the street. |

| Digital Reproduction Information | Digital image captured using a Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a glass negative scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the shadows from 0 to 40 and the highlights from 255 to 251, using Adobe Photoshop 7.0. |
