	Swanson Brothers Title Swanson Brothers Date Original 1895 Description Photograph shows the interior of S. R. Swanson and Brothers Wholesale and Retail Millinery located at 117 East Main Street in Galesburg, Illinois. Two women customers can be seen seated on stools attached to the counter on the left. There are two empty stools also showing. In the back of the store are three men, a boy and four more women. Two other women are behind the counter on the right. Many hats can be seen on the left side of the photograph on a counter with hat boxes on shelves against the wall. On the right appear to be decorative items on top of and inside display cases such as manufactured flowers to be used as decorations on ladies' hats. Some flowers are on display stands. Behind the counter is a woman and what appear to be boxes which seem to be identified on the outside and may hold more decorations for hats. Gas lighting fixtures can be seen and the ceiling is wallpapered. There are two windows in the back with a stairway in between them. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the contrast from 0 to +10 and the brightness from 0 to +20 using Adobe Photoshop CS.
