NotesThe original negative envelope is labeled C. R. Bares. Based on information in the 1900 and 1910 Federal census, Davenport city directories and her obituary in the Davenport Democrat, it seems likely this is Carolyn Rathbone Barris, widow of Willis H. Barris. Carolyn Rathbone Barris was born in New York in 1830, making her about 80 years old in this photograph. She was a longtime invalid and lived at 1143 Main Street with two of her daughters at the time of her death in 1918. She is buried at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport.
