| Description | Photographic postcard of a Mississippi River scene at Davenport Iowa. In the background is the Albatross, a side wheel railroad transfer steamboat. It was built at Dubuque, Iowa in 1907 and owned by the Louisiana & Mississippi Valley Transfer Company. In 1920-1921 it was enlarged and in 1937 it was sold to Streckfus Steamers, Inc. Streckfus converted it to an excursion boat between 1938-1940 and renamed it Admiral. Also in the photograph are stern wheel towboats: Prescott, Mary Mc, and J.W.G. Caption on the front: Miss. River Scene. Davenport Iowa. |
