| Description | Photographic postcard of a log raft on the Mississippi River at Rock Island, Illinois. The logs are pushed by the North Star, a stern wheel "rafter" or rafting steamboat that was built in 1906 at Dubuque, Iowa and later sank in 1929. North Star often used the Harriet as a bow boat and it can be seen in this photograph at the other end of the raft. The Harriet is a stern wheel towboat that was originally named Park Bluff and built at Rock Island in 1884. It was rebuilt in 1906 at Wabasha, Minnesota and renamed Harriet.
