DescriptionPhotographic postcard of a log raft on the Mississippi River at Davenport, Iowa. In the foreground is the Harriet, a stern wheel towboat that was originally named Park Bluff and built at Rock Island in 1884. It was rebuilt in 1906 at Wabasha, Minnesota and renamed Harriet. The Harriet was often the bow boat for the North Star which can be seen in the distance. North Star, a stern wheel "rafter" or rafting steamboat that was built in 1906 at Dubuque, Iowa and later sank in 1929. Caption on the front: Logging on the Mississippi River, Davenport, Iowa.
