Horace Roberts
TitleHorace Roberts
PhotographerHostetler, J. B.
Studio Name/LocationHostetler Studio, Davenport, Iowa
Date Originalca. 1910
DescriptionThis family portrait is of a woman and three children sitting on a couch. The mother is seated on the photographer's left holding a baby on her lap. Next to her is the eldest girl, wearing a light dress and two very large bows on either side of her hair. The younger girl is on the right. The girls have a large book open on their laps. There is wallpaper and a rug on the floor that are not in other studio images. Some of the emulsion is starting to peel off, so the woman's dress is marred by small dark lines in the image.

NotesThe original negative envelope is labeled Horace Roberts. Based on the information in the 1910 Davenport city directory and federal census it seems likely this is Dorothea (Lefurgy) Roberts, wife of Horace G. Roberts. The older girls are most likely Dorothea and Virginia. The baby would likely be Rosara. In 1910 the mother was 30, Dorothea was 9, Virginia was 8 and Rosara would be 1.
