| Description | Photographic postcard with a view of the Mississippi River from Rock Island, Illinois looking north toward Davenport, Iowa showing ferry boats. In the foreground is the Rock Island, a side wheel ferry steamboat built at Clinton, Iowa in 1875. It was originally named Augusta, later renamed to T.J. Robinson, and again renamed to Rock Island sometime after 1908. It was dismantled in 1922 at Helena, Arkansas. Caption on the front: Mississippi River. From Rock Island Illinois. No. 6. |
