| Notes | The original negative envelope is labeled Mrs. Van Patten. Based on information in Davenport city directories, the 1910 census and an obituary it seems likely this is Dorothy Hartzel Van Patten, wife of John P. Van Patten. She died 7April1910 and in her obituary she was credited with founding the Ladies Industrial Relief Society, St. Luke's Hospital and the People's Union Mission. She would be about 70 years old in this photograph. |

The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting brightness to 73 and contrast to 55 in Microsoft PhotoEditor. |
