| Description | Picture of steamboats at the Moline Lock. On the right, shown leaving the lock is the Helen Blair, a stern wheel packet steamboat built at Harmar, Ohio in 1896 and originally named Urania. Captain Walter Blair purchased Urania in 1901, rebuilt it, and renamed it Helen Blair to honor his daughter. The Helen Blair was dismantled in June 1920 at Memphis, Tennessee. In the center of the picture are two unidentifed steamboats owned by Streckfus Steamers. Caption on the front: Steamer Helen Blair, leaving Moline Lock, Streckfus steamers waiting to enter. |
