NotesThe original negative envelope is labeled Contrad Dietz. Based on information in a 1907 newspaper article it seems likely these women are the daughters of Conrad and Margaretha (Maggie) Puck Dietz of Walcott, Scott County, Iowa; According to an article in the Davenport Democrat and Leader, Sunday November 3, 1907 the daughters are Meta (age 32), Tillie (31), Emma (30), Edith (21), Dora (15) and Martha (13) and together with their 9 brothers they were named the largest family in Scott County. They were to receive one dozen of photographer Hostetler's finest 11 x 14 photographs as a prize. Perhaps this is one of their portraits from that contest.
