She is looking directly at the photographer. She is wearing a simple bracelet and a watch is pinned to the bodice of her dress. The other image shows her posed in a chair, looking down at a book she is holding in her lap. |

Based on information in the 1910 federal census and Davenport city directories it seems likely this is Josephine VonMaur, daughter of Charles J. and Mary Ellen (Cable) VonMaur, who would have been about eight-years-old. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting brightness to 69, contrast to 67 and gamma to 1.62 in Microsoft PhotoEditor. |
