| Notes | The original negative envelope is labeled E. B. Hayward. Based on information in federal and state census records, Davenport city directories, and newspaper articles including obituaries it seems likely this is Major Eugene B. Hayward and his wife Ellen (Phelps) with one of their grandsons, perhaps William Phelps Kimball who was born about 1905 to their daughter. The Hayward and Phelps families came from New York and were active in the lumber business. See also images X1078 and X1208. |
