His light hair is parted in the center. A boy of about ten years of age is standing next to the chair. He is wearing a shirt with vertical stripes on the collar, and a suit with knickers and jacket that is a bit too large for him. His dark hair is parted on the side. Both subjects are looking directly into the camera.

NotesThe original negative envelope is labeled L. C. Eastman. Based on information in the 1910, 1915 and 1920 federal and Iowa state census records and Wolfe's History of Clinton County (Iowa) Volume 1, it seems likely this is Lauren Chase Eastman, lumber baron, of Clinton County, Iowa and his grandson Lauren Eastman Rogers.

Object Description1 negative : glass, b&w ; 8 x 10 in.
Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using a Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL with transparent media adapter. TIFF fill created from a glass negative scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600 ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting brightness to 9 and contrast to -3 in Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
