NotesThe original negative envelope is labeled Mr. Joe R. Lane. Based on information in the 1912 Davenport City Directory, Joe R. Lane was president of Joe R. Lane Investment Company and first vice president of First National Bank. He and his wife, Jennie D., lived on 331 Mississippi Avenue, Davenport, Iowa. There is a biographical sketch published in the second volume of The Courts and Legal Profession of Iowa. Mr. Lane was born in Davenport, Iowa on May 6, 1958. He was the son of James T. Lane and Annie J. Lane. He was admitted to the bar in June 1880 and was a member of the firm of Davidson & Lane and later Lane & Waterman. Mr. Lane was elected to congress in 1898. Joe R. Lane married Jennie D. Richardson on April 14, 1881.
