| Description | Exterior image of a multi-story brick building with a steeple and cross. The windows of the building are all partially open. There are large trees visible that have not yet leafed out. A group of young men are standing on the ground beside the steps. One man dressed in a light colored shirt and perhaps a cap is standing on the photographer's left, alone. On the landing at the top of the steps stands a smaller group of men, at least one of whom appears to be dressed in a priest's cassock. There are two much smaller wooden structures that appear in the background on the photographer's right. |

| Notes | The original published image is labeled St. Ambrose Seminary. The Seminary opened in 1882 but this building opened in November of 1885. Local architect Victor Huot designed an adaption of the Second Empire Style that would allow for future additions. As of 2010 this building is a part of the campus of St. Ambrose University. |
