NotesThe original negative envelope is labeled Chas Sorrowfree (Group). Based on information in the 1913 Davenport City Directory, Charles Sorrowfree (of Sorrowfree & Dougherty) lived on 919 Kirkwood Boulevard with his wife, Etta M. and his office was located at 16 Whitaker Building. Based on information in the 1915 Iowa Census Charles Sorrowfree (age 60) was born in Germany ca. 1855. Based on information in the 1910 Census, his children were listed as: Lawrence (age 24), Mary (age 21), Etta (age 18), Faye (age 15), Charles (age 11) and Lucille (age 5). Mary Elam Sorrowfree married Kenneth H. Cox in Scott County on 30 January 1913. Etta Alvine Sorrowfree married Ralph Smiley in Scott County on 25 March 1914. C. J. Sorrowfree's obituary was published in the Davenport Times-Democrat on 13 July 1958. It lists his wife's name as Eva McClellan, and sisters as Mrs. Elam Cox, Mrs. Etta Smiley, Mrs. Faye Hartman and Mrs. Lucille Neavins. Lawrence W. Sorrowfree's obituary was published in the Davenport Times-Democrat on 09 February 1966 and says he married Elizabeth Hender in Davenport in 1910. It lists his surviving sisters as Mrs. Ralph Smiley and Mrs. Harry Neavins.
