DescriptionPhotograph of the intersection of 14th and State Streets in Bettendorf, Iowa before work was completed to repair and repaint the street markers. On the left is Voellinger Motor Company with a window display of Firestone Tires and gasoline pumps in front of the building. In the distance is the Carmelite Monastery, later known as the Abbey Hotel. This was Project #77 of the Civil Works Administration (C.W.A.) projects in Scott County, Iowa.

Digital Reproduction InformationDigital image captured using a Microtek ScanMaker 9600XL with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a print photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 1200ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the shadows from 0 to 20, the midtones from 1.00 to 1.87, and the highlights from 255 to 241 using Adobe Photoshop 7.0.
