| Description | Photograph of the excursion boat "J. S." docked on the Mississippi River at the Davenport, Iowa levee possibly prior to the last excursion in 1935. Men and women are standing on all the decks. The J. S. was a side wheel excursion steamboat built at Dubuque, Iowa in 1896 originally named Quincy. Streckfus Steamers Line acquired it in 1911, and in 1918-1919 converted it to a deluxe excursion boat named J.S. It was later dismantled at St. Louis, Missouri 1938-1939. |

| Digital Reproduction Information | Digital image captured using a Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 1200ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the shadows from 0 to 45 and the highlights from 255 to 236 using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. |
