| Description | Photograph of the excursion boat "J. S." docked on the Mississippi River at the Davenport, Iowa levee. Two women are standing on the levee and an automobile is in front of the boat to the left. The J. S. was a side wheel excursion steamboat built at Dubuque, Iowa in 1896 originally named Quincy. Streckfus Steamers Line acquired it in 1911, and in 1918-1919 converted it to a deluxe excursion boat named J. S. It was later dismantled at St. Louis, Missouri 1938-1939. |

| Digital Reproduction Information | Digital image captured using a Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL with transparent media adapter. TIFF file created from a photograph scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the input level of the shadows from 0 to 48 and the highlights from 255 to 245 using Adobe PhotoShop Elements 2.0. |
