| Notes | The original negative envelope is labeled Miss S. Glaspell. Susan Glaspell, Pulitzer Prize winning author and playwright, lived in Polk County, Iowa according to the 1900 census. She was working as a reporter for the Daily News. Born in Davenport, Iowa in July 1876, she would be about 25 years old in this image. She later married George Cram Cook. Susan Glaspell died in 1948. |

TIFF file created from a glass negative scanned at 8-bit grayscale 600 ppi. The master scan is untouched, but this display image was enhanced by adjusting the brightness to 83 and contrast to 67 in Microsoft PhotoEditor. |
