NotesThe original negative envelope is labeled "Mrs. F. I. Moffett". Based on research in the Davenport city directories, the 1900 and 1910 census, Scott County, Iowa Tombstone Records and the obituary of Francis I. Moffatt (17Dec1914) in the Davenport Democrat, it is believed this is the family of Reverend Francis I. Moffatt, a Presbyterian minister who resided at 1201 Arlington Avenue while living in Davenport. He and his twin brother were born in Pennsylvania in 1835. He was a Civil War veteran and later married Elizabeth A. Orr in 1878 in Atkinson, Illinois. He later came to Scott County and served at Summit Church. The couple had seven children, Foster O. apparently dying before this image was taken. Foster, Francis I., and Elizabeth are listed as being buried in Oakdale Cemetery in Davenport. At the time of his death, his daughter Florence went by the name Mrs. Florence Moffatt-Bennett and the other daughter by Mary Sloan. The 1900 census lists the family as being of the following ages: Francis I. (64), Elizabeth (44), William F. (20), Florence S. (18), John G. (16), Robert F. (15), Mary E. (12), Edwin A. (4).
